First field trip is a success!

Thank you to all the people who attended Fal Energy Partnership’s first field trip on Friday 12 October.

The weather was very changeable and we even had hail!

The wind turbines up close were very dramatic. What was very much in lack of was sound; there was hardly any sound from the wind turbines, even though we were underneath the V80s – in the most stormy weather – the sounds were only a low hum.

It was also a great opportunity to start the conversation about potentially starting our own community wind power. At Tremough, we were treated to a very enthusiastic talk from Sophie Hartfield about how REG Windpower (previously Cornwall Light and Power) goes through the planning process to enable a wind turbine to generate energy.

Please find her slides here.

The students who attended had a chance to question Sophie on probable scenarios and all were glad to be in the dry.

Thank you to Grae and Sophie for helping to organise the event.
